#1 Create Your Own NIL Merch

Welcome to the first edition of The NIL Athlete.

Every Sunday, you will receive 1 piece of advice that we break down from a NIL deal to better help you monetize your name, image, and likeness.

This week we’re breaking down the NIL deal between USC Quarterback Miller Moss and Campus Ink.

Let’s dive in…

USC Quarterback Miller Moss is capitalizing on his rise to stardom by launching a new NIL apparel line titled "Miller Time".

After showcasing his prowess on the field, Moss took the opportunity of a bye week to roll out this exclusive range.

The collection, in collaboration with Campus Ink's NIL Store, includes t-shirts, crew neck sweatshirts, and hoodies, priced between $39.99 and $64.99.

Leveraging his unique nickname, the "Miller Time" range offers Moss an estimated net income of $6 to $15 per sale.

Why should you create your own NIL apparel line?

  • Brand Building: Strengthen and express your personal brand.

  • Revenue Generation: Create a significant income stream through merchandise sales.

  • Fan Engagement: Connect with your audience by offering apparel they can wear.

  • Creative Outlet: Design unique clothing and accessories reflecting your style.

  • Partnership Opportunities: Open doors for collaborations with other brands and influencers.

  • Long-Term Value: Build a lasting brand that can evolve with your career.

  • Community Building: Foster a sense of connection and loyalty among your supporters.

  • Leverage Influence: Utilize your existing following to drive interest and sales.

This all sounds great, doesn’t it? Steps to get started.

  1. Reach out to Campus Ink’s team via social media. Let’s use Instagram DM as an example.

“Hi Campus Ink team, my name is {First Name}, and I’m currently a student-athlete at {School Name}. I’m highly interested in collaborating to build a merchandise line with my engaged fan base. Are you available to set up an intro call to discuss further?

  2. Stay persistent on the follow-up to set up a meeting.

  3. Negotiate terms with their team to create a win-win. Your NIL is valuable and reference key points above during the conversation.

  4. Check that the contract is compliant with your school.

  5. Ink the deal and get the creative process started!

Your brand is unique and remember to be confident when speaking with company executives. Dominate the week.

Best,

GS
