#4 Positively Impacting Your Community
This week, we’re discussing how to give back to your community utilizing your NIL.
NC State Wolfpack athletes are showing us that using their NIL can make a significant impact. After the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, 48 athletes from NC State stepped up, using their NIL collective fund, One Pack, to donate a total of $4,635 to Samaritan’s Purse, a nonprofit organization leading recovery efforts in western North Carolina.
But that's not all. Davin Vann, an edge rusher from the team, is contributing to relief efforts through a unique partnership between his family's company, Joyful Movers, and the athletics department, collecting items for those affected by the storm.
These inspiring actions reiterate that NIL can go beyond personal gain and can serve as a powerful platform to support communities in need, especially during times of crisis.
How can you give back?
Partner with Local Charities:
Collaborate with local nonprofits and charity organizations by using your NIL to promote charitable events, fundraisers, or awareness campaigns. This can help raise money and visibility for causes that benefit your community.
Host Youth Sports Clinics:
Organize or sponsor youth sports camps or clinics, offering training and mentorship to aspiring young athletes. This promotes sports development, builds a sense of community, and provides a positive role model for the next generation of athletes.
Donate NIL Earnings to Causes:
Donate a portion of your NIL earnings directly to charitable organizations or community improvement projects. By publicly supporting these causes, they can inspire others to contribute as well.
Create and Sell Merchandise for Charity:
Create branded merchandise (e.g., t-shirts, hats) with your NIL and sell it with the proceeds going to a specific cause. This strategy combines entrepreneurship with philanthropy, allowing fans to support both the athlete and the cause.
Use Social Media to Promote Local Initiatives:
Use social platforms to promote local initiatives, small businesses, or community service projects. This will draw attention to community needs and encourage others to get involved.
Make it a priority this week to find 1 way to give back to your community. Whether volunteering, donating, or simply raising awareness, small actions can make a big impact.
As an athlete with a platform, you have the power to inspire and lead others in making a positive difference in the world.
Best,
GS
